Lucille Kyser

Lucille Kyser died June 22, 2008, at age 90 at her home in Hay Springs, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in hay Springs with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating. Burial will follow at the Hay Springs Cemetery.

Lucille Mabel Kyser was born Aug. 6, 1917, to Leland Ray and Mabel Joanna (Ellefson) Suiter at their home near Bristol, Wisc. Lucille was the oldest of six children. She had four sisters, Soella (Sally), Irene, Dorothy, Marie, and one brother, Arthur.

Lucille married Roy Kyser November 28, 1934, at Viroqua, Wisc., and they moved to Hay Springs in 1944.

Lucille was known for her generous heart and willingness to help anyone in need. For over 30 years she entertained in nursing homes and hospitals by dancing her puppets to the delight of all. She was a member of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP), United Methodist Church, a 60 year member of the Rebekah Lodge and for many years a member of the Fireman’s Auxiliary. She was a charter member of the Hay Springs Senior Center and enjoyed meeting her friends there almost every day; either working, having coffee or playing cards. Lucille’s favorite past time was going dancing, and she was a lifetime member of the Panhandle country Music Association.

Lucille is survived by her six children: Doris and her husband Elwin Lawrence of Hay Springs, Keith and his wife Ellen Kyser of Hay Springs, Beatrice and her husband William Dinkel of Sidney, Dorothy and her husband Robert Kenning of Lenexa, Kan., Evelyn and her husband Al Kinast of Rockford, Ill., and Dale and his wife Carol Kyser of Oshkosh. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, her two youngest sisters: Dorothy Mattes and Marie Risen, a special friend: Frank Grimm, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband: Roy, one grandson: Jerry Lawrence, one great-granddaughter: Loire Hunt, two sisters: Irene Hisey and Sally persons, her brother Arthur Suiter and an infant brother Adolph.

A memorial has been established for the Ambulance Fund, the Fireman’s Auxiliary or the Senior Center, all of Hay Springs. Memorials may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Drabbels, PO Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347.

Chamberlain-Drabbels Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
