Brandon Harrington earns academic all district honor

Chadron State College’s Brandon Harrington has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 7 Men’s Track and Field Second Team, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors Association last week.
To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.3 cumulative GPA. District 7 includes more than 140 schools in nine states.
Harrington, a junior from Northwest High School in Grand Island, has a 3.73 GPA in health and physical education. He won the long jump, was second in the high hurdles and fourth in the triple jump at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Meet this spring
In his career, Harrington has won the conference title in the high hurdles four times and the long jump once. He was also a first team selection to the RMAC’s Indoor and Outdoor All-Academic First Teams.
In addition, Harrington is an accomplished football player at Chadron State. Last fall, he set the school record for most receptions in a single season with 82. He was also a first-team selection to the RMAC All-Academic Football Team.
Four RMAC track and field athletes earned District 7 First Team accolades. They are Adams State’s Matt Gersick, Aaron Braun and Josh Streeter and Colorado Mines’ Mark Husted.
