The Chadron High Future Business Leaders of America attended the annual State Leadership Conference in Kearney, April 11-13. To start the conference, students were motivated as they listened to the keynote speaker, John Beede and attended a variety of workshops.

Though four bids came in on a 60’ x 84’ x 14’ post frame building for the Street Department, Chadron City Council opted to reject all four. City Manager Tom Menke noted the bids all came in higher than the initial estimates for the project and recommended the rejection.

Last Thursday saw the annual meeting of the Northwest Nebraska Trails Association (NNTA), and NNTA Treasurer George Ledbetter said there was great attendance and enthusiasm from everyone there, as well as great reports from all the committees and about upcoming events.
As usual, good basketball was played by Panhandle boys’ basketball teams this past season. Exactly half of the 24 teams in the 12-county area won half of their games. Four won at least 20 games, another 17 and three more 15. The coaches and players on those teams should have felt good about …
Last week, several people slowed and stopped to witness the demolition of long-standing Assumption Academy on Cedar Street. The building was deemed inefficient and under-utilized and will be replaced with a new Parish Life Center at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
A program that began in 2022 to improve city sidewalks was again renewed following action by Chadron City Council, Monday evening.
